I love to follow trails. On walks, on rides, in the woods, by the coast, online. Sometimes it’s good to share what you find, other times you want to keep your discoveries to yourself.
This is the first of what will be an ongoing series, sharing new discoveries. Maybe I’m late to the party, maybe everyone else knows already, but I just discovered it today.
In that spirit, I’d like to share ‘The Grunewald Church Session’ by CEEYS on 1631 Recordings from Sweden. Beautiful, sparse in parts, highly accomplished, this ticks all my boxes for modern classical, despite me not being that enamoured of the piano. Tracks like ‘Opal Glass’ and ‘Hover, Over, Me’ are perhaps most akin to my sensibilities, with drones and external sounds featuring, though I do enjoy the more minimal pieces also.
This seems too good to just be stumbled across.
The expansion of things like Soundcloud and Bandcamp has been truly phenomenal since I started the label, and I find them both to be pretty incredible resources. There’s just so much great stuff out there. Not everything I’ll post is something I’d play to my mother either, so keep that in mind too…
